Crankshaft Rear Seal (G2244072): Installation

CAUTION: Use only a plastic scraper when removing the sealing material.

Using a suitable tool remove the sealing material.
CAUTION: Make sure that the approved Jaguar Land Rover approved sealant, covers the mating faces of the cylinder block and the oil pan.

- Apply RTV sealant (Loctite 5901G) in a 2-3 mm diameter to the areas shown.
  Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
- Make sure the crankshaft rear oil seal is installed within 7 minutes.

Install the special tool as illustrated.

Tighten the 2 special tool bolts finger tight at this stage.

- Partially install the crankshaft rear oil seal over the special tool.
- Do not fully install the crankshaft rear oil seal. Maintain a clearance of 8 mm between the crankshaft rear oil seal and the cylinder block.
- Make sure the sealant does not smear during installation.

- Install 4 crankshaft rear oil seal bolts as illustrated.
- Make sure the 8 mm clearance is maintained between the crankshaft rear oil seal and the cylinder block.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): 303-1442
CAUTION: Apply pressure to the rear oil seal plate in the sequence shown, when installing the special tool.

- Install the special tool onto the crankshaft rear oil seal.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1622
- Make sure the 8 mm clearance is maintained between the crankshaft rear oil seal plate and cylinder block.

- With the aid of the special tool, fully install the crankshaft rear oil seal.
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
  Torque : 11 Nm

Remove the special tool.

Tighten the 8 bolts.

Torque : 11 Nm
Install the drive plate.
Refer to: DRIVE PLATE .
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
