Fuel Pump Camshaft Timing Adjustment (G1590636): Adjustment

Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.
Refer to: FUEL PUMP CAMSHAFT TIMING CHECK .
Refer to: LOWER TIMING COVER .
CAUTION:
- Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
- Inspect the 3 timing chain oil nozzles for signs of damage, install as necessary.

NOTE: Using a suitable tie strap, position the tensioner to one side.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1621

Torque : 12 Nm
Refer to: LOWER TIMING COVER .

Torque : 10 Nm
NOTE: Install a new sealing washer.

Renew Part: Oil pan drain plug Quantity: 1 .

Torque : 24 Nm
Connect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
CAUTION: Make sure that the vehicle is left for 5 minutes from filling with oil and that the engine oil level is reading at least minimum, before starting the engine. To check engine oil level follow steps 16-20.
- Fill the engine with oil.
- Clean any residual engine oil from the oil filler cap area.
  Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
CAUTION: Correct installation of the oil filler cap can be obtained by tightening the cap until hard stop.

CAUTION: Make sure that the vehicle has been left for 5 minutes from filling with oil.

Follow the Steps 16-20 before starting the engine.
- Start the engine and allow to run for 10 minutes, stop the engine.
- Check for leaks.
CAUTION:
- Make sure that the vehicle is parked on level ground.
- Make sure that the selector lever and the gearshift mechanism are in the park (P) position.
- Make sure that the hood is open.
NOTE: Allow 10 minutes from the engine switch off for the engine oil level to stabilize.
- Turn the ignition on.

- Scroll through the message center to access the engine oil level display.

- Press the cruise control cancel button twice within 2 seconds.

- This display is now the live reading of the engine oil level.
- Take a reading from the level display and, if necessary, top up with oil as instructed.
NOTE: If instructed to follow Steps 16-20 in a previous step, return to Step 8 and continue the procedure.

Turn the ignition off.
Allow 10 minutes for the engine oil level to stabilize if there has been additional oil top up.
NOTE: The following steps are to update the average oil level value.

- Turn the ignition on.
- Press and hold the cruise control cancel button for more than 5 seconds.
Turn the ignition off.

- Scroll through the trip menu to access the engine oil level display.
- Make sure that the average oil level value has now been updated.
