Electronic Engine Controls - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2318514): Overview
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The Engine Management System (EMS) operates the engine to generate the output demanded by the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor and by other system loads.
The EMS has a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that uses a torque-based strategy to evaluate the inputs from the sensors and other systems. The PCM produces outputs to the engine actuators to produce the required torque.
The EMS controls the following:
- Charge air
- Fueling
- Ignition timing
- Valve timing
- Cylinder knock
- Idle speed
- Engine cooling fan
- Exhaust emissions
- Evaporative emissions
- Immobilization system interface
- Speed control.
