Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor allows the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to calculate the load on the engine. The load is used in the calculation of fuel injection time.
The MAP sensor is located in the air inlet of the supercharger. The sensor is secured with a single screw and sealed with an o-ring. A 3-pin electrical connector provides the interface with the engine wiring harness.
If the MAP sensor fails, the PCM adopts a default value of 1 bar (14.5 psi).
If the MAP sensor fails, the engine will suffer from poor starting, rough running and poor drive ability.
