Coolant Expansion Tank (G2523586): Removal
WARNING:
Make sure the engine cooling system is cool prior to doing this procedure.
CAUTION:
Engine coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If spilled, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

WARNING: Injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant. Make sure the vehicle cooling system is cool prior to carrying out this procedure.
Remove the coolant expansion tank filler cap.
- Clamp the coolant hose with a hose clamp.
- Use a suitable syringe to remove as much coolant fluid as possible from the coolant expansion tank.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
- Release the wiring harness clip from the coolant pipe.
- Release the 5 wiring harness clips from the coolant expansion tank.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.
- Release the 2 coolant pipe clips.
- Disconnect the coolant pipe connector.
- Remove the bolt.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the coolant expansion tank level sensor.
- Disconnect the coolant hose.
- Remove the coolant expansion tank.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Remove the coolant expansion tank level sensor.
- Remove the blanking cap.
