Brake Pads - Vehicles With: 324 Mm Brake Disc (G2782929): Removal
CAUTION:
- Brake pads must be renewed in axle sets.
- If the brake pad wear warning light has been activated, a new brake pad wear sensor must be installed.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains illustrations for right side components, left side components are similar.

- Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to set the Integrated Power Brake to the assembly mode.
Refer to: INTEGRATED POWER BRAKE ASSEMBLY MODE
- Use the JLR
approved diagnostic equipment to set the Electric Park Brake (EPB) to the maintenance position.
General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment
- Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to set the Integrated Power Brake to the assembly mode.

WARNING: Take extra care that the brake pedal is not pressed during the replacement procedure. Failure to follow this instruction might result in personal injury.NOTE: This step is only required if the JLR approved diagnostic equipment is not available.
Set the EPB to the maintenance position.

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Remove the rear wheel and tire.
Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE
Remove the brake caliper anti-rattle spring.
Disconnect the electrical connector.

CAUTION: Care must be taken for the brake pad wear sensor is easily damaged.NOTE: The brake pad wear sensor is only installed on the right side brake caliper.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor from the brake pad.
- Release the grommet from the bracket.
- Reposition the wiring harness away from the brake caliper.

CAUTION: Make sure that the brake hose does not support the full weight of the brake caliper assembly.
- Remove the 2 brake caliper dust covers.
- Remove the 2 brake caliper slide pins.
- Reposition the brake caliper to get access to the brake pads.
- Use a suitable cable tie to support the brake caliper.
General Equipment: Cable ties
- NOTE: Note the orientation of the brake pads prior to removal.
Remove the brake pads.
- Repeat the steps 4 - 9 for the other side components.
