Brake Caliper - Vehicles With: 324 Mm Brake Disc (G2782927): Removal

WARNING: Take extra care that the brake pedal is not pressed during the replacement procedure. Failure to follow this instruction might result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
  • Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
  • If brake fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • This procedure contains illustrations for right side components, left side components are similar.
    • Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment to set the Integrated Power Brake to the assembly mode.

      Refer to: INTEGRATED POWER BRAKE ASSEMBLY MODE

    • Use the JLR  approved diagnostic equipment to set the Electric Park Brake (EPB) to the maintenance position.

      General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

  1. NOTE: This step is only required if the JLR  diagnostic equipment is not available.

    Set the EPB  to the maintenance position.

    Refer to: ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE SERVICE MODE ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION

  2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING

  3. Remove the rear wheel and tire.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE

    Remove the brake caliper anti-rattle spring.

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  6. CAUTION: Care must be taken for the brake pad wear sensor is easily damaged.
    NOTE: The brake pad wear sensor is only installed on the right side brake caliper.

    • Release the brake pad wear sensor from the brake pad.
    • Release the grommet from the bracket.
    • Reposition the wiring harness away from the brake caliper.

    • Remove the 2 screws.
    • Remove and discard the push on steel clip.
    • Reposition the rear wheel arch liner to get access to the brake hose.
  8. CAUTION: Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the fluid.

    • Remove and discard the brake hose bolt.
    • Remove and discard the 2 seals.
    • Disconnect the brake hose.

    • Release the brake hose clip.
    • Release the brake pipe nut.
    • Remove and discard the brake hose.

    • Remove the 2 brake caliper dust covers.
    • Remove the 2 brake caliper slide pins.
    • Remove the brake caliper.
  11. NOTE: Only complete the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.

    • Remove and discard the 2 bolts.
    • Remove the EPB  actuator from the brake caliper.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
