Tire Pressure Monitoring System Valve Damaged

NOTE:
  • The majority of Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) faults are low tire pressure warnings indicating the tires have lost air. The TPMS amber warning indicator in the Instrument Cluster (IC) is illuminated when a tire pressure is less than the threshold.
  • This document describes the fault diagnosis of Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) faults.

It is recommended that during the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) (or at subsequent service intervals), advice should be given to customers. The damage to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) valve may occur if excessive side loading is applied during tire inflation or checking.

TPMS valves are snapped/damaged when an excessive side load is applied as shown in the illustration.

The damage occurs at the edge of the valve, as shown in the illustration. If damage is on other area's of the tire valve, the claim is not covered by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) warranty. This is not a manufacturing defect.

Use a non 'wand' style inflator to maintain the tire pressures. This is equipped with a flexible hose to the single tire valve connector.
