Upper Timing Cover (G2110220): Installation

Apply a steady 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the cylinder head in the areas shown in the illustration. Use silicone gasket sealant meeting Jaguar Land Rover specifications.

Install a new upper timing cover gasket.

Renew Part: Timing chain cover gasket Quantity: 1 .

• Install the upper timing cover.
• Install and tighten the 12 bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.

  Torque 

  1. Stage 1: 5 Nm 
  2. Stage 2: 13 Nm 
  3. Stage 3Loosen: 180° 
  4. Stage 4: 13 Nm

Lubricate the VCT  solenoid bores with clean engine oil.

Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

• Install 2 new VCT  solenoid O-ring seals.

  Renew Part: Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) solenoid O-ring seals Quantity: 2 . 

• Install the 2 VCT  solenoids.
• Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

  Torque  : 9 Nm 

• Install the wiring harness bracket.
• Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

  Torque  : 10 Nm 

• Install the clip.

• Install the engine coolant degas separator.
• Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

  Torque  : 10 Nm 

• Install the coolant hose bracket to the upper timing cover assembly.
• Install and tighten the stud.

  Torque  : 10 Nm 

• Install the 2 coolant hoses.
• Install the 2 hose clamps.

Torque  : 8 Nm 

• Install the 3 wiring harness clips.
• Connect the electrical connectors to the 2 variable camshaft timing solenoids.
