Oil Pan (G2297912): Installation

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

1. CAUTION:

   • Make sure that all traces of the old sealant are removed from the mating surfaces.
   • Make sure the component is installed and bolts tightened within 7 minutes of applying the sealant.

   Apply a steady 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the oil pan in the areas shown in the illustration. Use silicone gasket sealant meeting Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) specifications.

   Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

2. CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

   • Install the oil pan.
   • Install the 2 bolts.
3. CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

   Install the 14 bolts.

   1. Stage 1: Tighten the bolts in the sequence illustrated.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

   2. Stage 2: Tighten bolts 1 to 13.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

   3. Stage 3: Tighten bolt 14.

      Torque  : 35 Nm 

   4. Stage 4: Tighten bolts 15 and 16.

      Torque  : 25 Nm

   Install and tighten the 5 bolts.

   Torque  : 25 Nm 

6. • Install the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
   • Install the 3 fasteners.
7. NOTE: If equipped.
   • Install the transmission fluid pipes.
   • Install and tighten the nut.

     Torque  : 9 Nm 

8. • Install the halfshaft support bracket.
   • Install and tighten the 8 bolts.

     Torque  : 60 Nm 

9. • Install the lower exhaust bracket.
   • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

     Torque  : 24 Nm 

10. • Install the upper exhaust bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 5 bolts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm 

11. • Install the heatshield.
    • Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm 

12. • Use a suitable tool to lever the engine forwards.
    • Install the engine mount.
    • Install and tighten the 3 new bolts.

      Renew Part: Engine mount bolt(s) Quantity: 3 . 

      Torque 

      1. Stage 1: 70 Nm 
      2. Stage 2: 180 Nm 
13. • Install the right undershield bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 18 Nm 

    • Install the 2 clips.
14. • Install a new O-ring seal.

      Renew Part: Oil level gauge O-ring seal Quantity: 1 . 

    • Install the oil level gauge pipe.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

    • Install the 3 clips.
15. • Reposition the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
    • Install the clip.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles 

16. • Reposition the Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) wiring harness.
    • Install and tighten the 2 nuts.

      Torque  : 12 Nm 

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

17. Install the engine front cover.

    Refer to: ENGINE FRONT COVER - VEHICLES WITH: MHEV .

    Refer to: ENGINE FRONT COVER - VEHICLES WITH: NON-ELECTRIC VEHICLES .

18. Install the front right halfshaft.

    Refer to: FRONT RIGHT HALFSHAFT .

19. Install the starter motor.

    Refer to: STARTER MOTOR .

20. Fill the engine with oil.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

21. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
