Camshaft Carrier (G2308964): Installation

- Install the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1635
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

- Lubricate the components with clean engine oil.
  Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the intake camshaft.
- Install the 5 camshaft bearing caps.
- Install and tighten the 10 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
  Torque : 12 Nm

- Lubricate the components with clean engine oil.
  Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the exhaust camshaft.
- Install the 5 camshaft bearing caps.
- Install and tighten the 10 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
  Torque : 12 Nm
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1635

- Install a new O-ring seal.
  Renew Part: Oil fill pipe O-ring seal Quantity: 1 .
- Install the oil filler pipe.
- Install and tighten the bolt.
- Install the 2 Camshaft Position (CMP) sensors.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
  Torque : 8 Nm
NOTE:
- If the original cylinder head is installed use the threaded guide pins 303-1444-01.
- If a new cylinder head is installed use the unthreaded guide pins 303-1444-02.

- Install a new camshaft carrier gasket.
  Renew Part: Camshaft carrier gasket Quantity: 1 .
- Install the special tools.
  Special Tool(s): 303-1444-01 , 303-1444-02

- Install the camshaft carrier assembly.
- Install and tighten the 16 bolts in the illustrated sequence.
  Torque : 10 Nm

Remove the special tools.

Special Tool(s): 303-1444-01 , 303-1444-02

Install and tighten the 3 bolts in the illustrated sequence.

Torque : 10 Nm

Tighten the 19 bolts in the illustrated sequence.

Torque : 28 Nm
- Install the fuel pump.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
  Torque : 12 Nm
Install the purge valve.
Refer to: PURGE VALVE .
Install the Continuous Variable Valve Lift (CVVL) assembly.
Refer to: CONTINUOUS VARIABLE VALVE LIFT .
Install the upper timing chain.
Refer to: UPPER TIMING CHAIN .
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
