Powertrain Mount Alignment (G2339756): Adjustment

NOTE:
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

  1. Disconnect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .

  2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .

  3. Remove the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD .

  4. Remove the engine cover.

    Refer to: ENGINE COVER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles 

  5. Remove the startup battery tray.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .

    Release the Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) battery cable clip.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Non-Electric Vehicles only 

  7. Remove the startup battery tray.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

  8. Remove the coolant expansion tank.

    Refer to: COOLANT EXPANSION TANK (G2300790)

    • Remove the 3 bolts.
    • Remove the startup battery tray bracket.

    Remove and discard the powertrain stabilizer rear bolt.

    • Remove and discard the powertrain stabilizer front nut and bolt.
    • Remove the powertrain stabilizer.

    • Disconnect the active exhaust module electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.
    • Reposition the wiring harness away from the exhaust system.
  13. NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.

    • Remove the exhaust clamp nut.
    • If required, use a suitable cutting tool to release the exhaust clamp from the exhaust.
    • Remove the 4 exhaust hanger bracket bolts.
    • Remove the 2 exhaust hanger bracket nuts.
    • Remove and discard the exhaust clamp.

    • Remove the 3 bolts.
    • Release the exhaust hanger bracket.

    • Remove the 2 bolts.
    • Release the exhaust mount from the front subframe.

    • Remove the 3 lower Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) bolts.
    • Release the catalytic converter and exhaust system from the halfshaft support bracket.
  17. CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damage to the vehicle.

    Use a suitable trolley jack and wooden block to support the powertrain assembly.

    General Equipment: Trolley jack

    • Release the 2 transmission breather pipe clips.
    • Reposition the transmission breather pipe away from the left powertrain mount.
  19. CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damage to the vehicle.

    • Remove and discard the 5 right powertrain upper support insulator bolts.
    • Remove and discard the right powertrain upper support insulator nut.
    • Remove and discard the 3 left powertrain mount upper bolts.
    • Make sure the powertrain upper support insulator is correctly aligned to the right powertrain mount bracket as illustrated.
    • Make sure the left powertrain mount is correctly aligned to the left powertrain mount bracket as illustrated.
  20. CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the powertrain upper support insulator bracket remain aligned to the right powertrain mount bracket.
    • Make sure that the left powertrain mount remain aligned to the left powertrain mount bracket.

    • Install and tighten the 2 left powertrain mount upper bolts in the sequence illustrated.

      Renew Part: Left powertrain mount upper bolt(s) Quantity: 2 . 

      Torque 

      1. Stage 1: 60 Nm 
      2. Stage 2: 180° 
    • Install and tighten the 2 right powertrain upper support insulator bolts in the sequence illustrated.

      Renew Part: Powertrain upper support insulator to engine bolt(s) Quantity: 2 . 

      Torque 

      1. Stage 1: 48 Nm 
      2. Stage 2: 60° 
    • Install and tighten the 4 remaining bolts.

      Renew Part: Left powertrain mount upper bolt(s) Quantity: 1 . 

      Renew Part: Powertrain upper support insulator to engine bolt(s) Quantity: 3 . 

      Torque 

      Left powertrain mount upper bolt

      1. Stage 1: 60 Nm 
      2. Stage 2: 180° 

      Right powertrain upper support insulator bolts

      1. Stage 1: 48 Nm 
      2. Stage 2: 60° 
    • Install and tighten the right powertrain upper support insulator nut.

      Renew Part: Right powertrain mount nut Quantity: 1 . 

      Torque 

      1. Stage 1: 70 Nm 
      2. Stage 2: 60° 
    • Check the fasteners torque.

    • Reposition the transmission breather pipe to the left powertrain mount.
    • Secure the 2 transmission breather pipe clips.
  22. CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damage to the vehicle.

    Remove the trolley jack and wooden block.

    General Equipment: Trolley jack 

    • Install the powertrain stabilizer.
    • Install but do not fully tighten the powertrain stabilizer to body bolt.

      Renew Part: Powertrain stabilizer to body bolt Quantity: 1 . 

    • Install but do not fully tighten the powertrain stabilizer nut and bolt.

      Renew Part: Powertrain stabilizer nut and bolt Quantity: 1 . 

  24. NOTE: Vehicles installed with a slotted powertrain upper support insulator assembly.

    Make sure the powertrain stabilizer front nut and bolt are correctly installed as shown in the illustration.

    Fully tighten the powertrain stabilizer to body bolt.

    Torque 

    1. Stage 1: 80 Nm 
    2. Stage 2: 120° 
  26. Fully tighten the powertrain stabilizer nut and bolt.

    Torque 

    1. Stage 1: 100 Nm 
    2. Stage 2: 1210°

    • Secure the catalytic converter and exhaust system to the halfshaft support bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 3 lower GPF  bolts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm

    • Secure the exhaust mount to the front subframe.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm

    • Secure the exhaust hanger bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm 

  30. NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.

    • Install the new exhaust clamp to the exhaust silencer.

      Renew Part: Rear exhaust silencer clamp Quantity: 1 . 

    • Install the rear exhaust silencer.
    • Install and tighten the 2 exhaust hanger bracket nuts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 4 exhaust hanger bracket bolts.

      Torque  : 24 Nm 

    • Tighten the exhaust clamp.

      Torque  : 55 Nm

    • Reposition the wiring harness to the original position.
    • Secure the wiring harness clip.
    • Connect the active exhaust module electrical connector.

    • Install the startup battery tray bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque  : 12 Nm 

  33. Install the coolant expansion tank.

    Refer to: COOLANT EXPANSION TANK (G2300790)

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Non-Electric Vehicles only 

  34. Install the startup battery tray.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicles

    Secure the MHEV  battery cable clip.

  36. Install the startup battery tray.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

  37. Install the engine cover.

    Refer to: ENGINE COVER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL .

  38. Install the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD .

  39. Connect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
