Intermediate Exhaust Section (G2297594): Removal

WARNING: Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
Remove the engine undershield.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD .
Remove the rear silencer.
Refer to: REAR SILENCER .

- Remove and discard the 3 nuts.
- Reposition the wiring harness bracket away from the exhaust system.
NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.

- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the 5 bolts.
- With assistance, remove the intermediate exhaust section.

Remove and discard the gasket.
NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

- Remove the front exhaust mounting bracket.
- Remove the exhaust mounting bracket from the intermediate exhaust section.
