Cooling System Partial Draining And Vacuum Filling (G2298648): Draining
WARNING:
Injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant. Make sure the vehicle cooling system is cool prior to carrying out this procedure.
CAUTION:
- The cooling system must be maintained with the correct concentration and type of engine coolant solution to prevent corrosion and frost damage. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the engine.

- Engine coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If spilt, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.
- Never remove the coolant expansion tank cap under any circumstances while the engine is operating. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the engine.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

WARNING: Since injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant, do not remove the filler cap from the coolant expansion tank while the system is hot.
Remove the coolant expansion tank cap.
- Remove the engine undershield.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD .
- Position a container to collect the fluid.

NOTE: Collect the coolant in a clean container and reuse.
- Attach a hose to the radiator drain tap.
- Open the radiator drain tap.
- Drain the coolant from the radiator.

- Close the radiator drain tap.
- Remove the hose.
