Main Wiring Harness (G2312650): Removal

NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • This procedure contains illustrations for left hand drive vehicles, right hand drive vehicles are similar.

The following step(s) applies to: 

All vehicles 

  1. Remove the front seats.

    Refer to: FRONT ROW SEAT .

  2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .

  3. Release the fuel pressure.

    Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .

  4. Disconnect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .

  5. Remove the fuel tank.

    Refer to: FUEL TANK (G2300118)

    Refer to: FUEL TANK .

    Refer to: FUEL TANK (G2300118)

  6. Remove the rear bumper.

    Refer to: REAR BUMPER .

  7. Remove the outer tail lamps.

    Refer to: OUTER TAIL LAMP .

  8. Remove the rear wheel arch liners.

    Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER .

  9. Remove the Battery Junction Box (BJB).

    Refer to: BATTERY JUNCTION BOX .

  10. Remove the Engine Junction Box (EJB).

    Refer to: ENGINE JUNCTION BOX .

  11. Remove the startup battery tray.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .

  12. Remove the coolant expansion tank.

    Refer to: the appropriate service information

    Refer to: COOLANT EXPANSION TANK .

    Refer to: the appropriate service information

  13. Remove the headlamps.

    Refer to: HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY .

  14. Remove the windshield washer reservoir.

    Refer to: WINDSHIELD WASHER RESERVOIR .

  15. Remove the Fuel Fired Booster Heater (FFBH) assembly.

    Refer to: FUEL FIRED BOOSTER HEATER .

  16. Remove the secondary bulkhead center panel.

    Refer to: SECONDARY BULKHEAD CENTER PANEL .

  17. Remove the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

    Refer to: the appropriate service information

    Refer to: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .

    Refer to: the appropriate service information

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Plug in hybrid electric vehicles only 

  18. Remove the charging socket flap.

    Refer to: CHARGING SOCKET FLAP - VEHICLES WITH: PHEV .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Vehicles without roof opening panel 

  19. Remove the headliner.

    Refer to: HEADLINER .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Vehicles with roof opening panel 

  20. Remove the roof blind.

    Refer to: ROOF BLIND .

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles 

  21. Remove the instrument panel cross-car beam.

    Refer to: INSTRUMENT PANEL CROSS-CAR BEAM .

  22. Remove the front left floor carpet.

    Refer to: FRONT FLOOR CARPET .

  23. Remove the rear floor carpets.

    Refer to: REAR FLOOR CARPET .

  24. NOTE: If equipped.

    • Disconnect the glow plug control module electrical connector.
    • Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the left pedestrian impact sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors at the front left wheelhouse.
    • Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the front left height sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the 6 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the exterior sound synthesizer sounder electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the electric auxiliary coolant pump electrical connector.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles

    • Disconnect the lower active grille electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the 2 power steering link harness electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the FFBH  auxiliary coolant pump electrical connector.

    • Disconnect the 2 horn electrical connectors.
    • Release the 2 wiring harness grommets.

    • Disconnect the front right height sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the right pedestrian impact sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the electric drive coolant pump electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the front right wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the 12 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the front right Adaptive Damping (AD) link harness electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness grommet in the area of the front right wheelhouse.
    • Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the Battery Back-Up Sounder (BBUS) electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.
    • Remove the ground cable bolt.

    • Disconnect the radiator lower coolant hose temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the hose clip.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    Plug in hybrid electric vehicles only

    • Disconnect the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) battery cooler link harness electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the PHEV  battery cooler isolation solenoid electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the electric auxiliary coolant pump electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the radiator lower coolant hose temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the 3 wiring harness clips.

    The following step(s) applies to: 

    All vehicles

    • Disconnect the Pedestrian Protection System (PPSCM) airbag electrical connector.
    • Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.

    Release the wiring harness bracket at the hood hinge.

    • Disconnect the right PPSCM actuator link harness electrical connector.
    • Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.

    • Release the 2 wiring harness grommets from the front bulkhead.
    • Remove the 2 PCM  ground cable bolts.
    • Disconnect the Air Conditioning (A/C) pressure sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the FFBH  auxiliary coolant pump electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the PCM  cooling fan electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors at the brake booster.
    • If equipped, disconnect the clutch pedal position sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the 4 wiring harness clips.
    • Release the 2 hose clips.

    • Disconnect the left PPSCM actuator link harness electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.
    • Release the 8 wiring harness clips.
    • Release the front left bulkhead wiring harness grommet.

    • Release the engine wiring harness grommet from the startup battery tray support.
    • Release the 2 coolant hoses as illustrated.
    • Release the brake booster vacuum pipe.
    • Remove the 2 nuts.
    • Remove the startup battery tray support.

    • Disconnect the Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module (ABS) electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the cooling fan link harness electrical connector.
    • Remove the 4 ground cable bolts.
    • Release the 9 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the Brake Booster Module (BBM) electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the coolant changeover valve electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the 2 auxiliary coolant pump electrical connectors.
    • Release the 3 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the high voltage coolant heater electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the front left impact sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the upper active grille electrical connector.
    • Release the 2 wiring harness clips.

    Release the 4 wiring harness clips in the area of the A/C  system service connections.

    • Disconnect the hood switch electrical connector.
    • Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
    • Remove the ground cable bolt.

    Release both front door wiring harness electrical connectors.

    Disconnect both rear door wiring harness electrical connectors.

    Release the 4 wiring harness clips and remove the ground cable bolt in the area of the left A-pillar.

    Reposition the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material from the bulkhead in the area of the pedal assemblies.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the pedal assemblies.
    • Release the wiring harness grommet.
    • Remove the 2 ground cable bolts.
    • Release the 8 wiring harness clips.

    • Release door wiring harness connector from the left A-pillar.
    • Release the wiring harness grommet.

    • Disconnect the 6 General Proximity Sensing Module (GPSM) electrical connectors.

    • Release the 15 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the 3 Voltage Quality Module (VQM) electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the 6 Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM) electrical connectors.

    • Remove the PJB cable nut.
    • Remove the ground cable bolt.

    • Disconnect the 3 second row seatbelt buckle electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the 2 second row seat backrest heater element electrical connectors.
    • Remove the ground cable bolt.

    • Disconnect the left C-pillar impact sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the 4 wiring harness clips.

    • Remove the 4 bolts.
    • Reposition the left second row seatbelt retractor and bracket assembly.

    • Remove the 3 ground cable bolts.
    • Remove the RJB cable nut.

    • Disconnect the 4 Occupant Monitoring Module (SUMB) electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the Radio Frequency (RF) interference suppressor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the towbar link harness electrical connector.
    • Release the 3 wiring harness clips.

    • Release the electric booster heater relay bracket.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) system antenna electrical connector at the tailgate striker.
    • Disconnect the illuminated treadplate link harness electrical connector.
    • Release the 3 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the PEPS  system antenna electrical connector at the second row seat backrest.

    • Disconnect the 7 Telematic Control Unit Module (TCU) electrical connectors.

    • Disconnect the 2 Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) heater control unit electrical connector.

    • Disconnect the fuel flap release motor electrical connector.
    • If equipped, disconnect the Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM) electrical connector.
    • Release the 10 wiring harness clips.

    Disconnect the 5 wiring harness clips at the rear right wheelhouse.

    • If equipped, disconnect the right Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) sensor electrical connector.
    • If equipped, disconnect the DEF  tank wiring harness electrical connector.
    • Release the 4 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the left BSM  sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the 8 wiring harness clips.

    • If equipped, disconnect the evaporative emission canister electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the 3 rear subframe wiring harness electrical connectors.
    • Release the 9 wiring harness clips.

    • Disconnect the 3 rear subframe wiring harness electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the charging socket electrical connector.
    • Release the 11 wiring harness clips.
    • Disconnect the Diagnostic Module Tank Leakage (DMTL) pump link harness electrical connector.
