Engine Wiring Harness - INGENIUM I3 1.5L Petrol, Vehicles With: PHEV (G2408992): Removal

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the wiring harness clips.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations for left hand drive vehicles, right hand drive vehicles are similar.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • Note the position of the wiring harnesses to aid installation.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .

  2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .

  3. Remove the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD .

  4. Remove the Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG).

    Refer to: BELT INTEGRATED STARTER GENERATOR - INGENIUM I3 1.5L PETROL, VEHICLES WITH: PHEV .

  5. Remove the air filter housing.

    Refer to: AIR FILTER HOUSING (G2294774)

  6. Remove the air filter housing outlet pipe.

    Refer to: AIR FILTER HOUSING OUTLET PIPE (G2300214)

  7. Remove the startup battery tray.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .

    • Disconnect the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the starter motor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the oil pump control solenoid electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the knock sensor link harness electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the 5 wiring harness clips.
    • Disconnect the piston cooling oil jet solenoid electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.

    • Remove the 2 clips.
    • Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) cover.
  11. WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping engine coolant.

    • Remove the 2 bolts.
    • Release the coolant pipe.
    • Reposition the engine coolant degas separator assembly.

    • Disconnect the Manifold Absolute Pressure and Temperature sensor (MAPT) electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the cylinder block temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.

    • Disconnect the 2 Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) solenoid electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate actuator electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the rear knock sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the 2 transmission electrical connectors.
    • Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.

    • Release the bolt.
    • Disconnect the 2 main wiring harness electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connector.
    • Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket from the secondary bulkhead panel.

    Release and remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) breather pipe.

    • Disconnect the 3 ignition coil electrical connectors.
    • Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the High Pressure (HP) fuel pump electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the Fuel Rail Pressure and Temperature (FRPT) sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the intake Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the purge valve electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the purge valve pressure sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    • Disconnect the 2 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connectors.
    • Release the 2 electrical connector clips.
    • Disconnect the cylinder head temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the exhaust CMP  sensor electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the fuel injector link harness electrical connector.

    • Remove the 2 clips.
    • Remove the right engine NVH  cover.

    • Release the wiring harness clip.
    • Remove the 2 bolts.
    • Reposition the Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) back pressure sensor assembly bracket.

    • Remove the 3 bolts.
    • Reposition the catalytic converter and GPF  support bracket.

    • Disconnect the thermostat electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.

    Disconnect the 2 variable coolant pump electrical connectors.

    • Remove the ground cable bolt.
    • Disconnect the oil pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Release the wiring harness clip.
    • Remove the wiring harness bracket bolt.
    • Release the wiring harness bracket.

    Remove the engine wiring harness.
