Electric Park Brake Release When The Vehicle Has No Electrical Power (G1785116): Check
WARNING:
Chock the wheels and make sure that all personnel are clear of the vehicle before carrying out the following procedure.
NOTE:
- To be carried out in the event that the vehicle has no electrical power.
- This procedure must be completed to the components on both sides of the vehicle.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove both the rear wheels and tires.
Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the wiring harness bracket.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor.
- Reposition the wiring harness away from the brake caliper.
- Remove and discard the 2 bolts.
- Remove the Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuator from the brake caliper.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
Using a suitable tool, rotate the piston until the parking brake is released.
