Dynamic Apply
While the vehicle is moving, the dynamic apply mode gives emergency braking. Emergency braking occurs at a vehicle speed greater than 3 km/h (2 mph). By operating and holding the EPB switch in the apply position, a gradual deceleration of the vehicle occurs. The red EPB warning indicator comes on, together with a warning in the message center and a warning chime.
The vehicle stop lamps also come on. The stop lamps are activated when dynamic apply is applied. The ABS sends a message to the Body Control Module (BCM)/Gateway Control Module (GWM). If the EPB switch is either released or operated to the release position, or the accelerator pedal is pressed, the dynamic apply operation cancels.
The dynamic apply operation is canceled in the following cases:
- The EPB switch is either released to its neutral position.
- The EPB switch is operated to the release position.
- The accelerator pedal is pressed.
There are 3 modes of dynamic apply, which the ABS uses in the following order of preference:
- Hydraulic Dynamic Brake Function (HDBF)
- Degraded Dynamic Brake Function (DDBF)
- Actuator Dynamic Brake Function (ADBF).
