Brake Pads (G2309417): Installation

WARNING: Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.
Clean the brake caliper housing and anchor plate using brake cleaning fluid.
Material: Brake Cleaner (3U7J-2C410-AA)

CAUTION: Damaged components must be replaced.
Inspect the caliper piston and slide pin seals for damage.

CAUTION: As the piston is pushed back into the caliper housing, the brake fluid level in the reservoir will rise. Do not allow the reservoir to overflow.
- Release the 7 retainers.
- Remove the startup battery cover and brake fluid reservoir cover.
- Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap, and check the brake fluid level.
- Use a suitable syringe to remove the excessive brake fluid to avoid the brake fluid reservoir to overflow.
General Equipment: Oil syringe
Use the special tool to fully retract the brake caliper piston into brake caliper housing.
Special Tool(s): 206-080

NOTE: Make sure that the anti-rattle spring is installed to the position noted prior to removal.
- Install the anti-rattle spring.
- Install the rear brake pads.
- Install the brake caliper.
- Install and tighten the 2 brake caliper guide pins.
Torque : 30 Nm
- Connect and secure the EPB electrical connector.
- Install the 2 dust caps.
- Install the anti-rattle spring.
- Repeat the above procedure for the other side.
- NOTE:
- Right hand side only.
- If new brake pads are installed make sure that a new brake pad wear sensor is installed.
Connect the brake pad wear sensor to the brake pad.
Renew Part: Brake pad wear sensor cable Quantity: 1 .
- Depress the brake pedal several times, check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up with brake fluid.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the brake fluid reservoir cap.
- Depress the brake pedal several times, check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up with brake fluid.

CAUTION: If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
- Check and clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir cap, if necessary.
- Install the startup battery cover.
- Secure the 7 retainers.
- Install the rear wheels and tires.

- Calibrate the EPB using the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment.

NOTE: This step is only required if the diagnostic tool is not available.
Deactivate the service mode function of the EPB.
