Brake Caliper (G2309700): Installation

  1. NOTE: Only do this step if a new component is to be installed.

    • Install the new O-ring seal.

      Renew Part: Electric park brake actuator fitting kit Quantity: 1 . 

    • Install the EPB  actuator.
    • Install and tighten the 2 new bolts.

      Torque  : 11 Nm

    Clean the brake caliper carrier using brake cleaning fluid.

    Material: Brake Cleaner () 

  3. WARNING: Damaged components must be replaced.

    Inspect the caliper piston and slide pin seals for damage.

    • NOTE: Make sure that the brake hose is installed in the correct orientation.

      Install the new brake hose to the body bracket.

      Renew Part: Brake hose Quantity: 1 . 

    • Install the retaining clip.
    • Connect and tighten the brake pipe union.

      Torque  : 15.5 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the brake hose retaining bracket nut.

      Torque  : 10 Nm 

    • Install the brake caliper.
    • Install the 2 brake caliper slide pins.

      Torque  : 30 Nm 

    • Install the 2 dust caps.
    • Connect the brake hose to the brake caliper.

      Torque  : 35 Nm 

    • Install the anti-rattle spring.
    • NOTE: Right side only.

      Connect and secure the brake pad wear sensor to the brake pad.

    • Connect and secure the EPB  actuator electrical connector.
  4. Install the rear wheel arch liner.

    Refer to: REAR WHEEL ARCH LINER .

  5. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .

  6. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment and set the EPB  to the maintenance position.

    General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

  7. NOTE: This step is only required if the JLR approved diagnostic equipment is not available.

    Deactivate the service mode function of the EPB  .

    Refer to: ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE SERVICE MODE ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION .

  8. Bleed the brake system.

    Refer to: BRAKE SYSTEM PRESSURE BLEEDING - VEHICLES WITH: MHEV/NON-ELECTRIC VEHICLES .

    Refer to: BRAKE SYSTEM PRESSURE BLEEDING - VEHICLES WITH: PHEV .

  9. Install the wheel and tire assembly.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .
