Scheduled Maintenance Brake System Fluid Change - [+] PHEV (G2964059): Adjustment

    • Remove the brake fluid reservoir cover from the cowl panel.
    • Use a suitable cleaning solution to clean the brake fluid reservoir cap and surrounding area.
    • Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.
    • Use a suitable syringe to remove all accessible brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.

      General Equipment: Oil syringe 

    • Top up the brake fluid reservoir with new, clean brake fluid.

      Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

  3. CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the operating pressure of the equipment does not exceed 3 Bar (43.5 psi).
    • It is imperative that the brake fluid level does not drop below the minimum mark on the brake fluid reservoir during the fluid replacement procedure.

    Install the pressure bleed equipment to the brake fluid reservoir.

    General Equipment: Brake/clutch system pressure bleeder/filler 

  4. Remove all the brake caliper bleed screw caps and clean the surrounding area.
  5. Use the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) diagnostic equipment to put the Integrated Power Brake module into Assembly Mode  .

    Refer to: INTEGRATED POWER BRAKE ASSEMBLY MODE - VEHICLES WITH: PHEV .

    Connect the bleed hose to the bleed screw of caliper number 1  , Rear Left shown in the illustration.

    • Immerse the free end of the bleed hose into the bleed bottle containing a small amount of fresh brake fluid.
    • Support the bleed bottle so that the free end of the bleed hose is a minimum of 50 mm above the bleed screw during the fluid replacement procedure.
    • Open the bleed screw.
    • Press and release the brake pedal periodically and continue until clear, fresh brake fluid is seen in the bleed hose.
    • Close the bleed screw.
  8. NOTE: High performance brake calipers have 2 bleed screws, in this instance the Inner  bleed screw should always be completed first.

    Connect the bleed hose to the bleed screw of caliper number 2  , Front Left shown in the illustration.

    • Immerse the free end of the bleed hose into the bleed bottle containing a small amount of fresh brake fluid.
    • Support the bleed bottle so that the free end of the bleed hose is a minimum of 50 mm above the bleed screw during the fluid replacement procedure.
    • Open the bleed screw.
    • Press and release the brake pedal periodically and continue until clear, fresh brake fluid is seen in the bleed hose.
    • Close the bleed screw.
    • For high performance calipers, connect the bleed hose to the outer  bleed screw of caliper number 2  .
    • Open the bleed screw.
    • Press and release the brake pedal periodically and continue until clear, fresh brake fluid is seen in the bleed hose.
    • Close the bleed screw.
  11. NOTE: High performance brake calipers have 2 bleed screws, in this instance the Inner  bleed screw should always be completed first.

    • Immerse the free end of the bleed hose into the bleed bottle containing a small amount of fresh brake fluid.
    • Support the bleed bottle so that the free end of the bleed hose is a minimum of 50 mm above the bleed screw during the fluid replacement procedure.
    • Open the bleed screw.
    • Use the JLR  approved diagnostic equipment to complete the Integrated Power Brake module Brake Fluid Change process. 

      General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

    • Select Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Diagnostics.
    • Select Integrated Power Brake Diagnostics.
    • Select ECU  Functions.
    • Select Brake Fluid Change.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to flush fluid through the Front Right brake. Do not press the brake pedal. Brake fluid is pumped through the caliper using the diagnostic routine. Continue until the diagnostic routine completes.
    • Close the bleed screw.
    • For high performance caliper, connect the bleed hose to the outer  bleed screw of caliper number 3  .
    • Open the bleed screw.
    • Press and release the brake pedal periodically and continue until clear, fresh brake fluid is seen in the bleed hose.
    • Close the bleed screw.

    Connect the bleed hose to the bleed screw of caliper number 4  , Rear Right shown in the illustration.

    • Immerse the free end of the bleed hose into the bleed bottle containing a small amount of fresh brake fluid.
    • Support the bleed bottle so that the free end of the bleed hose is a minimum of 50 mm above the bleed screw during the fluid replacement procedure.
    • Open the bleed screw.
    • Use the JLR  approved diagnostic equipment to complete the Integrated Power Brake module Brake Fluid Change process  .
    • Select ECU  Diagnostics.
    • Select Integrated Power Brake Diagnostics.
    • Select ECU  Functions.
    • Select Brake Fluid Change.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to flush fluid through the Rear Right brake. Do not press the brake pedal. Brake fluid is pumped through the caliper using the diagnostic routine. Continue until the diagnostic routine completes.
    • Close the bleed screw.
    • Tighten all the bleed screws.

      Torque  : 15 Nm 

    • Install all the bleed screw caps.
    • On completion of the brake fluid change procedure, exit the Brake Fluid Change  application.
    • Select ECU  Diagnostics.
    • Select Integrated Power Brake Diagnostics.
    • Select ECU  Functions.
    • Select exit brake fluid change.
    • Remove the pressure bleed equipment from the brake fluid reservoir.
    • Top up the fluid as required and install the brake fluid reservoir cap.

      Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

    • Install the brake fluid reservoir cover to the cowl panel.
  21. Use the JLR  approved diagnostic equipment to complete the Leakage And Air Monitoring procedure.

    General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

    • Take the Integrated Power Brake out of Assembly Mode.
    • Select ECU  Diagnostics.
    • Select Integrated Power Brake Diagnostics.
    • Select ECU  Functions.
    • Select Exit Control Module Assembly Mode.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts.
    • Read and clear any diagnostic trouble codes.
    • Disconnect the JLR  approved diagnostic equipment.

      General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

    • Close the hood and all the doors and lock the vehicle.
    • Wait for the hazard warning lamp switch back light to extinguish.
    • Wait a further 20 seconds.
