Tailgate (G2309376): Removal
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
- Remove the tailgate window.
Refer to: TAILGATE WINDOW .
- Remove the right side D-pillar trim panel.
Refer to: D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Remove the left side D-pillar trim panel.
Refer to: D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Remove the left loadspace side trim panel.
Refer to: LEFT LOADSPACE SIDE TRIM PANEL .
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Release the grommet.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the 2 tailgate washer hoses.
- Release the 2 wiring harness clips.
- Release the grommet.

WARNING: Make sure that the tailgate is sufficiently supported before the power tailgate actuator is disconnected.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the 2 power tailgate actuators from the vehicle body.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- With assistance, remove the tailgate assembly.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the grommet.
- Release the wiring harness.
- Remove the power tailgate actuator from the tailgate.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the door handle.
- Release the tailgate closing switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the tailgate close switch.

NOTE:
- Discard the 8 clips.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Release the power tailgate anti-trap sensor.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the power tailgate anti-trap sensor.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Remove the Tailgate Control Module (TGCM).

NOTE: Replace the Tailgate latch trim panel if damaged.
Remove the tailgate latch trim panel.

NOTE: Do not remove the component at this stage.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the tailgate latch.

NOTE: Do not remove the component at this stage.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the tailgate latch.
- Release the tailgate latch release cable.
- Remove the tailgate latch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the tailgate latch actuator.
- Release the 18 clips.
- Remove the tailgate finisher.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 nuts.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the tail lamp.
Remove the 2 nuts.
Remove the 4 bolts.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the rear proximity camera washer hose.
- Remove the 2 clips from the bracket.
- Remove the bracket.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Release the activity key transceiver module and bracket.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the activity key transceiver module and bracket.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 3 wiring harness clips.
- Release the grommet.
- Release the grommet.
- Remove the wiring harness.
- Release the 2 grommets.
- Release the 5 wiring harness clips.
Release the grommet.
- Release the 16 wiring harness clips.
- Release the 3 grommets.
- Remove the left wiring harness.

CAUTION: The seals are to be reused unless damaged.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the AM/FM antenna amplifier.

CAUTION: The seals are to be reused unless damaged.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the FM2 antenna amplifier.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
Remove the bump stop.
