Pinpoint Test H: Power Tailgate Alignment
- H1: POWER TAILGATE ALIGNMENT
- With the tailgate in a fully open position, check the torque of each hinge fixings against the specified torque setting and record the results.
Are the torque values for each tailgate hinge fixing within the specification detailed in the service information?
Yes: GO to H2.
No: Refer to the relevant service information and complete a full tailgate alignment. Refer to: the TAILGATE ALIGNMENT information.

- H2: POWER TAILGATE ALIGNMENT
- Make sure that the tailgate is in the fully closed position. Refer to the relevant service information and complete a gap, flush and alignment check and record the results. Refer to: the TAILGATE ALIGNMENT information.
Is the tailgate gap, flush and alignment within the service information specifications?
Yes: GO to H3.
No: Refer to the relevant service information and complete a full tailgate alignment. Refer to: the TAILGATE ALIGNMENT information.
- Make sure that the tailgate is in the fully closed position. Refer to the relevant service information and complete a gap, flush and alignment check and record the results. Refer to: the TAILGATE ALIGNMENT information.
- H3: POWER TAILGATE ALIGNMENT
- Refer to the relevant service information and remove the tailgate and tailgate struts from the vehicle. Leave the hinges attached to the body and move the tailgate hinges through their full travel manually. Refer to: TAILGATE .
Does each tailgate hinge move freely without restriction or excessive play through it's full range of travel?
Yes: Refit the tailgate and refer to the relevant service information and complete a full tailgate alignment. Refer to: TAILGATE . Refer to: the TAILGATE ALIGNMENT information.
No: Refit the tailgate and replace the tailgate hinge(s) as necessary and complete a full tailgate alignment. Refer to: the TAILGATE ALIGNMENT information.
