Power Tailgate (If Equipped)
The power tailgate is opened and closed by 2 electrically driven tailgate actuators mounted in place of the gas struts as used on the manual tailgate.
The power tailgate system consists of the following parts:
- Tailgate Control Module (TGCM)
- Tailgate actuators (quantity 2)
- Anti-trap sensors (quantity 2)
- Exterior tailgate release switch
- Tailgate close switch.
The main controller of the power tailgate system is the TGCM. The TGCM receives power supply from the Rear Junction Box (RJB) and is connected on the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) body systems bus.
The tailgate actuator assembly has ball joints at either end allowing it to articulate between the fixed mounts on the vehicle. The nominal opening and closing time of the system is 5 - 7 seconds.
The power tailgate operates using an electronic latch with the addition of a tailgate soft close actuator to pull the latch closed for the last 6 mm of travel (soft close). The latch and the tailgate soft close actuator are located in the tailgate. The tailgate soft close actuator pulls the latch closed at the end of the tailgates' travel, when the latch's secondary switch is reached.
The power tailgate can also be manually closed, to either the latch secondary or primary position, without causing any damage to the power mechanism.
