Hands-Free Tailgate (If Equipped)
If the vehicle is equipped with the hands-free tailgate feature, the power tailgate incorporates gesture based technology. The hands-free tailgate assemblies recognize a kick movement of a foot below the bumper level, and allow automatic opening or closing of the power tailgate.
The hands-free tailgate system consists of the following parts:
- Tailgate Control Module (TGCM)
- Hands-free tailgate assemblies (quantity 2)
- Remote Function Actuator (RFA)
- Tailgate actuators (quantity 2)
- Tailgate anti-trap sensors (quantity 2).
The main controller of the hands-free tailgate system is the TGCM. The TGCM receives power supply from the Rear Junction Box (RJB) and is connected on the HS CAN body systems bus. There are 2 hands-free tailgate assemblies located behind the rear bumper cover and transmit the opening request to the TGCM through Local Interconnect Network (LIN).
