Instrument Panel (G2300530): Removal

WARNING:

Take extra care when handling supplemental restraint system (SRS) components.
To avoid accidental deployment, the restraints control module backup power supply must be depleted. Wait at least two minutes after disconnecting the battery ground cable(s) before commencing any repair or adjustment to the supplemental restraint system (SRS), or any component(s) adjacent to the SRS sensors. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
To minimize the possibility of premature deployment, do not use radio key code savers when working on the supplemental restraint system. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
Do not probe supplemental restraint system (SRS) electrical connectors.

CAUTION: Do not use excessive force to remove the component. Make sure that all fixings are fully released.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.

Set the steering wheel to the lowest and closest position.
Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT .
Remove the floor console.
Refer to: FLOOR CONSOLE .
Remove the clockspring.
Refer to: CLOCKSPRING .
Remove the instrument cluster.
Refer to: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .
Remove the glovebox.
Refer to: GLOVEBOX .
Remove the passenger side vent.
Refer to: PASSENGER SIDE VENT .
Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel.
Refer to: INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER TRIM PANEL .
NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.

Remove the A-pillar trim panel.

Refer to: A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
CAUTION: Use a suitable plastic trim tool to release the component.

- Release the 6 clips.
- Remove the instrument panel center speaker grille.

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the sunload sensor.
- Remove the demist vent trim panel.

- Remove the 3 screws.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the instrument panel speaker.
- Release the wiring harness from the clip.

- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the instrument panel center carrier.

- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 3 screws.
- Remove the in-vehicle temperature sensor.
- Release the wiring harness from the 2 clips.

- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the duct air temperature sensors.
- Release the wiring harness from the 2 clips.
- Move the wiring harness.

Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the Head Up Display (HUD).

- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Release the wiring harness from the clip.
CAUTION: Make sure the wiring harness and electrical connectors are not damaged during this operation.

- Remove the 12 bolts.
- With assistance, remove the instrument panel.
NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.

- Remove the 4 screws.
- Disconnect the air ionizer hose.
- Remove the air ionizer.

- Remove the 8 screws.
- Remove the demist vent air duct.
