Oil Pan - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Petrol (G2203974): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. NOTE:
    • Make sure that all traces of the old sealant are removed from the mating faces.
    • Apply silicone gasket sealant or equivalent meeting Jaguar Land Rover specification.
    • Make sure that the sealant applied to the oil pan remains inside the fastener holes.

    Apply sealant to the oil pan as indicated.

    Material: Silicone Sealant LB (WSE-M4G323-A4/2U7J-M4G323-AA)

    • Install the oil pan.
    • Install the 2 bolts finger tight.

    Tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque  : 25Nm

    Install and tighten the 17 bolts in the sequence illustrated.

    Torque  : 25Nm 

    • Install the NVH  Material.
    • Install the 4 bolts.
  6. Install the 4 transmission bolts.

    Torque  : 48Nm 

    • Install the oil level gauge.
    • Install the bolt.

      Torque  : 7Nm 

    • Secure the 2 clips.
  8. CAUTION:
    • Inspect the front cover and replace if necessary.
    • Make sure that the surface of the front cover and the engine is clean and free of foreign material.
    • Steps 8-11 must be completed within 7 minutes of starting to apply the RTV.

    Apply RTV sealant in the position shown.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

    • Install the engine front cover.
    • Use the front cover alignment tool to align the front cover.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1672 

  10. CAUTION: Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage.

    Install and finger tighten the 4 bolts.

  11. CAUTION: Continuous forward pressure must be applied on the tool.

    Fully tighten the 4 bolts in the sequence illustrated.

    Torque  : 12Nm 

  12. CAUTION: This step must be completed within 40 minutes of starting to apply the RTV.

    Install and tighten the 8 bolts.

    Torque  : 12Nm

    Remove the front cover alignment tool.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1672 

  14. CAUTION: This step is only required if the front cover is re-used.

    • Install the special tool.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628 

    • Rotate the special tool and the crankshaft front seal 35° in a counter clockwise direction.
    • Remove the special tool and the crankshaft front seal.
    • Remove and discard the crankshaft front seal.
  15. CAUTION: This step is only required if the front cover is re-used.

    • Install a new crankshaft front seal to the special tool.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628 

      Renew Part: Crankshaft front oil seal  Quantity: 1  .

    • Install the special tool and the crankshaft front seal.
    • Rotate the crankshaft front seal and special tool 35° in a clockwise direction.
    • Remove the special tool.
    • Install the 2 idler pulleys.
    • Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 25Nm 

    • Install the 2 dust covers.
    • Install the bracket.
    • Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 9Nm 

  18. Secure the 3 wiring harness clips.
    • Install the accessory drive belt tensioner.
    • Install the bolt.

      Torque  : 47Nm

    • CAUTION:
      • Make sure that the component is correctly located on the dowel.
      • Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.

      Install the crankshaft pulley.

    • Install the special tool.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630

    Install the 4 new bolts and tighten in a diagonal sequence.

    Renew Part: Crankshaft pulley bolts  Quantity: 4  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 37Nm 

    Stage 2: 90° 

  22. Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630 

  23. Install the accessory drive belt.
  24. Remove the locking tool to apply tension to the accessory drive belt.
    • Install the charge air cooler bracket.
    • Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 90Nm 

    • Secure the wiring harness clip to the charge air cooler bracket.
    • Install the 2 nuts.

      Torque  : 12Nm 

    • Secure the 2 wiring harness clips to the charge air cooler bracket.
    • Connect the electrical connector.
  28. Install the engine.

    Refer to: ENGINE - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL .

  29. Fill the engine oil.

    Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING .

  30. Connect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
