Charge Air Cooler

The supercharger increases the pressure of the air supplied to the engine, this increases the power output of the engine.
This compression process produces heat which can reduce the performance gains due to reduced density of the intake air and an increase in the cylinder combustion temperature.
To counteract this, the charge air cooler is used to reduce the intake air temperature. This increases the density of the air allowing more air molecules to be delivered to the combustion chamber.
The charge air cooler uses coolant from the engine cooling system to cool the air before the air enters the engine.
