Turbocharger (G2027776): Removal
WARNING:
Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.
CAUTION:
Make sure that all openings are sealed.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the intake air resonator.
Refer to: INTAKE AIR RESONATOR .
- Remove the air deflector.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD .
- Partially drain the cooling system.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING .
Remove the 2 bolts and the heatshield.
Remove the 4 bolt and the heatshield.
Remove the 3 bolts and the heatshield.
Release the clip and remove the heatshield.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
- Remove the bolt and the 2 sealing washers.
- Discard the 2 sealing washers.
- Move the oil supply pipe away from the turbocharger.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the 2 coolant pipes.
- Examine the 2 o-ring seals for wear.
- Release the clamp.
- Release the catalytic converter.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove and discard the clamp.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Move the catalytic converter away from the turbocharger.
- Disconnect the pipe.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the clip.
- Examine the 2 seals for wear.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the pipe using the sequence illustrated.
- Remove and discard the 2 O-ring seals.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 4 nuts.
- Remove the turbocharger.
Remove and discard the gasket.
