Brake Pads - Vehicles With: 365 Mm Brake Disc (G2312489): Removal

WARNING:
  • Brake pads must be renewed in axle sets only. Failure to follow this instruction may result in braking efficiency being impaired.
  • If the brake pad wear warning light has been activated, a new brake pad wear sensor must be installed.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. If this component is being renewed because of a customer complaint, make sure to follow the brake system Diagnosis and Testing procedure.

    Refer to: BRAKE SYSTEM (G2474292)

  2. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment and set the Electric Park Brake (EPB) to the maintenance position.

    General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment 

  3. NOTE: This step is only required if the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment is not available.

    Release the EPB.

    Refer to: ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE SERVICE MODE ACTIVATION AND DEACTIVATION .

  4. NOTE: This step is only required if the vehicle has no startup power.

    Release the EPB.

    Refer to: ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE RELEASE WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS NO ELECTRICAL POWER .

  5. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING .

  6. Remove the wheel and tire.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE .

  7. CAUTION: The brake pad wear indicator sensor is easily damaged. Do not use a lever to remove the sensor. Use fingers only.
    NOTE: Right side only.

    Inspect the brake pad wear sensor for signs of wear or damage. Install a new sensor if necessary.

  8. CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang on the brake hose.

    • Disconnect the EPB.
    • Remove the 2 retaining bolts.
    • Remove the brake caliper.

    • Remove the brake pads.
    • Remove the 2 anti-rattle springs.
  10. Repeat the above procedure for the other side.
