Service Instructions
- Inspect the instrument panel trim.
- When the front stowage compartment is installed the instrument panel trim should be a bright finish.
- If the instrument panel trim is a black finish these must be replaced with bright finish trims.
- Open the front stowage compartment lid.
- Locate the front stowage compartment lid buffers.
- Using a suitable tool, remove and discard a section of the nylon washer (Part number LR113781) as illustrated.
- A section is removed so that the washer can be installed behind the stowage compartment lid buffer.
- Install the nylon washer behind the lip of the front stowage compartment lid buffer as illustrated.
- Repeat steps 2 - 5 for the other side of the front stowage compartment.
- Test the operation of the front stowage compartment lid.
- If the front stowage compartment lid operates correctly do not continue with further diagnostic procedures and return the vehicle to the customer .
- If the front stowage compartment lid does NOT operate correctly continue to step 8 .
- Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the instrument panel trim and the ICP at edge A and then edge B.CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damaging the surrounding components.
- Dimension A and B should each be approximately 2 mm.
- Dimension A and B should also be equal (approximately 2 mm).
- If dimension A or B is below specification this would indicate which side of the instrument panel is causing the concern. Follow the relevant repair method below.
If dimension A is below specification
- Remove the floor console trim.
- Remove the instrument panel trim retaining screws.
- Remove the instrument panel trim.
- Inspect the ICP electrical wiring harness.
- The ICP electrical wiring harness must be installed into its locating channel.
- Inspect the ICP electrical wiring harness.
- The ICP electrical wiring harness must not be tight on the ICP pivot mechanism.
- If the ICP electrical wiring harness is too tight, adjust the positioning so it is clear and allows the ICP to pivot freely.
- Make sure all of the retaining clips are installed on the instrument panel trim before installing.
- When installing do not apply pressure to the sides of the instrument panel trim as this will cause misalignment of the locating tabs.
- When installing the instrument panel trim start with the uppermost retaining clip (1) and then rotate the instrument panel trim into position (2).CAUTION: Make sure the instrument panel trim retaining clips are aligned correctly before installing fully.
- Install the instrument panel trim retaining screws.
- Torque: 10 Nm
- Install the floor console trim.
If dimension B is below specification
- Remove the floor console trim.
- Remove the instrument panel trim retaining screws.
- Remove the instrument panel trim.
- Inspect the installation of the front stowage compartment microswitch and electrical wiring harness.
- The front stowage compartment microswitch must be located correctly and the electrical harness installed into the locating channel.
- When installing do not apply pressure to the sides of the instrument panel trim as this will cause misalignment of the locating tabs.
- When installing the instrument panel trim start with the uppermost retaining clip (1) and then rotate the instrument panel trim into position (2).
- Install the instrument panel trim retaining screws.
- Torque: 10 Nm
- Install the floor console trim.
- Test the operation of the front stowage compartment lid.
- If, after completing this procedure, the front stowage compartment lid does not open correctly submit a request for technical assistance.
