Lower Timing Cover - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Petrol (G2344486): Removal

NOTE:

  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING

  2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  3. Remove the crankshaft rear seal.

    Refer to: CRANKSHAFT REAR SEAL - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL

    Release the clip.

    • Remove the bolt.
    • Release the clip.
    • Reposition the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) sensor away from the lower timing cover.
  6. CAUTION: Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.

    Remove the 2 bolts.

  7. CAUTION:
    • Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.
    • Take extra care not to damage the surrounding components.

    • Remove the 14 bolts.
    • Remove the lower timing cover.

    Use a suitable tool to reposition the 2 dowels as illustrated.
