Lower Timing Chain - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Petrol - PHEV (G2748116): Removal

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

This procedure involves work on components associated with the High Voltage (HV) system. Only technicians qualified to EVCP level or higher are allowed to perform this procedure. It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
Disconnect the 12 V system.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
Remove the hood.
Refer to: HOOD
Remove the upper timing cover.
Refer to: UPPER TIMING COVER
Remove the lower timing cover.
Refer to: LOWER TIMING COVER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL - PHEV
Remove the charge air cooler.
Refer to: CHARGE AIR COOLER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL - PHEV

- Release the 5 clips.
- Reposition the wiring harness away form the charge air cooler bracket.

- Release the 2 clips.
- Reposition the wiring harness away from the charge air cooler bracket.

- Remove the nut.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the charge air cooler bracket.

- Install the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1656
- Use the special tool to rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the timing marks align as illustrated.

- Install the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1635
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
  Torque : 13 Nm

- Install the special tool.

- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
  Torque : 13 Nm

Assemble the special tools as illustrated.

Install the special tools.

Loosen, but do not fully remove the 2 bolts.

Remove and discard the upper timing chain tensioner.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the special tool.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1636
CAUTION: Note the location of the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) units prior to removal. Each VCT unit is matched to a specific camshaft.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove and discard the 2 bolts.
- Remove the 2 VCT actuators.
