Cylinder Compression Test

For a detailed description of the cylinder compression test, refer to the relevant service information. Refer to: CYLINDER COMPRESSION TEST - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL

SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSES ACTION
The compression test results are 0% or no pressure
  • During a compression test, the results were 0% or no pressure. This is due to a mechanical fault (broken spring) in the CVVL  unit. The inlet valve is not opening to allow the air into the cylinder, which causes an invalid test result
  • Disconnect the fuel injector wiring harness's electrical connector(s). Remove the CVVL  unit and inspect the components for a mechanical failure (broken springs). Replace any damaged components
  • Make sure the crankshaft position sensor is connected correctly
  • Make sure the CVVL  unit it replaced correctly
  • Make sure the fuel injectors wiring harness is reconnected. Test the vehicle and see if the fault is still present
    • If the fault is still present, conduct a valid compression test after the CVVL  unit is rectified
