Transfer Case Partial Draining And Filling - INGENIUM I6 3.0L Diesel (G2798206): Draining

WARNING: Observe due care when draining, as the fluid can be very hot.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
NOTE: If equipped.

- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) mass damper.
CAUTION:
- Do not allow the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) to hang from the wiring harness. Always support the TCCM with suitable cable ties.
- Note the orientation of the ground cable prior to removal

- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Reposition the TCCM and the ground cable away from the transfer case.
  General Equipment: Cable ties
Place a suitable container under the transfer case.
CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the transfer case fill plug is clean and free of foreign material.

- Remove and discard the transfer case fill plug.
CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the transfer case drain plug is clean and free of foreign material.

- Remove and discard the transfer case drain plug.
- Allow the fluid to drain.
