Transfer Case Draining And Filling - INGENIUM I6 3.0L Diesel (G2463599): Draining
WARNING:
Observe due care when draining, as the fluid can be very hot.
CAUTION:
Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

NOTE: If equipped.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) mass damper.

CAUTION:
- Do not allow the Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) to hang from the wiring harness. Always support the TCCM with suitable cable ties.
- Note the orientation of the ground cable prior to removal
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Reposition the TCCM
and the ground cable away from the transfer case.
General Equipment: Cable ties
- Place a suitable container under the transfer case.

CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the plug is clean and free of foreign material.
- Remove and discard the transfer case drain plug.
- Allow the fluid to drain.

NOTE: If equipped.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield.
Disconnect the electrical connector.

NOTE:
- Make sure that the area around the transfer case motor pump is clean and free of foreign material.
- Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the motor pump.
- Allow the fluid to drain.
- Remove and discard the 4 O-ring seals.

CAUTION: Make sure that the area around plug is clean and free of foreign material.
Remove and discard the transfer case motor pump level plug.
