Electric Thermostat (G2417536): Removal
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2-post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Remove the engine cover.
Refer to: ENGINE COVER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL
- Partially drain the engine cooling system.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING
- Remove the left secondary bulkhead panel.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Remove the fastener.
- Remove the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) pad.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Carefully release the clips.
- Remove the engine coolant upper hose.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the engine coolant rear hose.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the purge valve pipe on both sides.
- Remove the purge valve pipe.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Disconnect and position aside the engine coolant front hose.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
Disconnect and position aside the engine coolant lower hose.
Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the electric thermostat.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the electric thermostat.
Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
