Cooling Module - [+] Non-Electric Vehicles (G2344642): Removal

WARNING: Make sure the engine cooling system is cool prior to do this procedure.
CAUTION:
  • Engine coolant will damage the paint finished surfaces. If split, immediately remove the coolant and clean the area with water.
  • The desiccant bag need only be changed under the following circumstances: There is dirt in the refrigerant circuit (For example: compressor seizure), the system is leaking and refrigerant has been lost to atmosphere, or the refrigerant circuit has been open more than 24 hours, due to repair.
  • Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. Disconnect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  2. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING

  3. Evacuate the Air Conditioning (A/C) system.

    Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING

  4. Partially drain the engine cooling system.

    Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING 

  5. Remove the hood latch panel.

    Refer to: HOOD LATCH PANEL

    Disconnect the 3 coolant hose connectors.

    Disconnect the 2 coolant hose connectors.

    • Remove the 2 nuts.
    • Release the 2 A/C  pipes and discard the 3 O-ring seals.

    Release the 2 clips.

    • Disconnect the coolant hose.
    • Remove the nut.
    • Release the A/C  pipe and discard the 2 O-ring seals.

    Disconnect the 2 coolant hose connectors.

    • Remove the bolt.
    • Release the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) cooler.

    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Release the clip.
    • Remove the bolt.
    • Release the charge air cooler coolant pump.

    • Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
    • Release the clip.
  15. WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.

    • Remove the 2 screws.
    • Remove the 2 cooling module lower mounts.
    • With assistance, remove the cooling module.
    • Remove the 2 cooling module upper mounts.
  16. NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

    • Release the 10 wiring harness clips.
    • Remove the cooling module wiring harness.
