Oil Pan - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Petrol (G2344480): Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    • Make sure that all traces of the old sealant are removed from the mating surfaces.
    • Make sure the component is installed and bolts tightened within 7 minutes of applying the sealant.

    Apply a steady 3 mm diameter bead of sealant to the oil pan in the areas shown in the illustration. Use silicone gasket sealant meeting Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) specifications.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS 

  2. CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    • Install the oil pan.
    • Install the 2 bolts.
  3. CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    Install the 14 bolts.

    Tighten the 16 bolts in the illustrated sequence.

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 10 Nm 

    Stage 2: 25 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts to the transmission.

      Torque  : 48 Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts to the oil pan.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Install the NVH  material.
    • Install the 4 clips.
  7. CAUTION:
    • Inspect the front cover and replace if necessary.
    • Make sure that the surface of the front cover and the engine is clean and free of foreign material.
    • Steps 7-10 must be completed within 7 minutes of starting to apply the RTV.

    Apply RTV sealant in the position shown.

    Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

    • Install the engine front cover.
    • Use the front cover alignment tool to align the front cover.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1672 

  9. CAUTION: Do not fully tighten the bolts at this stage.

    Install and finger tighten the 4 bolts.

  10. CAUTION: Continuous forward pressure must be applied on the tool.

    Fully tighten the 4 bolts in the sequence illustrated.

    Torque  : 12 Nm 

  11. CAUTION: This step must be completed within 40 minutes of starting to apply the RTV.

    Install and tighten the 8 bolts.

    Torque  : 12 Nm

    Remove the front cover alignment tool.

    Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1672 

  13. CAUTION: This step is only required if the front cover is re-used.

    • Install the special tool.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628 

    • Rotate the special tool and the crankshaft front seal 35° in a counter clockwise direction.
    • Remove the special tool and the crankshaft front seal.
    • Remove and discard the crankshaft front seal.
  14. CAUTION: This step is only required if the front cover is re-used.

    • Install a new crankshaft front seal to the special tool.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1628 

      Renew Part: Crankshaft front oil seal Quantity: 1  .

    • Install the special tool and the crankshaft front seal.
    • Rotate the crankshaft front seal and special tool 35° in a clockwise direction.
    • Remove the special tool.
  15. Install the wiring harness clip to the engine front cover.
    • Install the 2 pulleys.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Install the 2 covers.
    • Install the oil level gauge assembly.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 7 Nm 

    • Install the 2 clips.
    • Remove and discard the cable tie that supports the A/C  compressor.
    • Reposition the A/C  compressor in the correct location.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque  : 25 Nm 

    • Install the transmission cooler pipes.
    • Install and tighten the nut.

      Torque  : 12 Nm 

    • Install the bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 12 Nm 

    • Install the 4 wiring harness clips.
  21. NOTE: If equipped.
    • Install the cable.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 12 Nm 

  22. Install the front subframe.

    Refer to: FRONT SUBFRAME

  23. Install the crankshaft pulley.

    Refer to: CRANKSHAFT PULLEY - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL 

  24. Fill the engine with oil.

    Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING 

  25. Connect the 12 V system.

    Refer to: 12V SYSTEM DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
