NOTE:

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Drain the transfer case.
Refer to: TRANSFER CASE DRAINING AND FILLING
- Remove the front driveshaft.
- Remove the rear driveshaft.
- Remove the bolt.
- Reposition the ground cable away from the transfer case.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the damper.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the heatshield.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Release the clip.
- Disconnect the breather pipe.

WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Use a transmission jack to support the transfer case.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Use the special tool to remove the 8 bolts.
Special Tool(s): 303-1069
- Remove the transfer case.
- Use a transmission jack to support the transfer case.

NOTE: Only do the following step(s), if a new component is to be installed.
Remove and discard the seal.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the transfer case Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) damper.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the sensor.
