NOTE:

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Disconnect the start up battery ground cable.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS
- Drain the transfer case.
Refer to: TRANSFER CASE DRAINING AND FILLING
- Remove the front driveshaft.
- Remove the rear driveshaft.

- Remove the transmission support crossmember.
Refer to: TRANSMISSION SUPPORT CROSSMEMBER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL
Disconnect the ground cable.
Remove the damper.
Remove the heat shield.
Release the transfer case wiring harness.
Remove the breather pipe.
- Using a suitable tool support the transfer case.
General Equipment: Transmission jack
- Using the special tool remove the transfer case.
Special Tool(s): 303-1069
WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.- Using a suitable tool support the transfer case.

CAUTION: Do not carry out this step if a new transfer box is to be installed.
Remove and discard the input shaft seal.
Remove the transfer case Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) damper.
Remove the sensor.
