PHEV Battery Onboard Charger (G2298796): Operation: Notes

WARNING: Do not do any work on the High Voltage (HV) electric system until the HV system on the vehicle is powered down.

The PHEV battery onboard charger when connected to an Alternating Current (AC) external power supply, changes the current to Direct Current (DC) required to charge the PHEV battery. The PHEV battery onboard charger regulates the charge current to prevent damage to the PHEV battery. The PHEV battery onboard charger communicates with the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) in the PHEV battery via the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) power mode zero systems bus.

The PHEV battery onboard charger illuminates the charging port Light Emitting Diodes (LED) display to show the charging status of the PHEV battery. Also when the PHEV battery is charging, relevant warning indicator - system status symbols will be displayed in the Instrument Cluster (IC) and messages in the IC message center.

When the vehicle is connected to an external power supply to recharge the PHEV battery temperature control system operates.
