PHEV Battery Onboard Charger (G2298796): Operation: Charging

Connecting the Charger
To connect the PHEV battery onboard charger to an external power supply:
- Unlock the vehicle with the smart key, open button.
- Make sure that the transmission control switch is in position 'P'.
- Make sure that the parking brake is on.
- Make sure that the ignition is in Power Mode 0.
- Open the flap in the front grille.
- Connect the charging cable to an external power supply.
- Open the charge port flap.
- Insert the charging cable plug into the charge port.
- The charging will start automatically. The charge port Light Emitting Diodes (LED) display will illuminate to show the charging status.
Disconnecting the Charger
To disconnect the PHEV battery onboard charger from an external power supply:
- Make sure that the vehicle is unlocked with the smart key or the keyless entry system.
- Make sure that the transmission control switch is in position 'P'.
- Make sure that the parking brake is on.
- Make sure that the ignition is in Power Mode 0.
- Press the release button on the charge cable plug and pull the plug out of the charging port.
- Close the charge port flap and the grille flap.
- Disconnect the charge cable form the external power supply.
NOTE:
- When the vehicle is unlocked the charge cable plug lock in the charging port is only releases for 30 seconds. Press the smart key unlock button again to release the charge cable plug lock for a further 30 seconds.
- If the charge cable plug lock does not release from the charge port it is necessary to use the emergency charge cable plug lock release.
Charging times
The charging time of the PHEV battery will depend on these:
- The state of charge of the PHEV battery when charging commenced
- The internal temperature of the PHEV battery
- Voltage and ampage restriction of the Alternating Current (AC) external power supply.

The mode 2 cable is the standard cable supplied with the vehicle.
