  • Check the integrity of the positive crankcase ventilation system. Rectify as necessary. For further positive crankcase ventilation system diagnostics, REFER to: DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic system, check the powertrain control module for power supply relay related DTC  s and refer to the relevant DTC  index.

Engine hesitates/poor acceleration

  • Restricted accelerator pedal travel (carpet, etc)
  • Ignition system
  • Transmission malfunction

  • Check the accelerator pedal for restricted movement, for example carpet or other objects, preventing full pedal travel. Rectify as necessary.

  • Sticking Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) hub

Engine misfires
  • Ignition system fault
  • Fuel system fault
  • Engine sensor faults
  • Air intake system, blockages, deterioration and damage
  • Catalyst/exhaust system blockage
  • Variable camshaft timing system stuck active
  • Low cylinder compressions
NOTE: The misfire detection monitor runs continuously and is designed to detect levels of misfire that can cause thermal damage to the catalyst or result in excessive tailpipe emissions. A full description of misfire monitoring can be found in the workshop information Documents Tab/Diagnostics information /OBD II System Information.
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment check the powertrain control module for the following DTC  s and complete the corrective actions:
    • P0300 - Random Misfire Detected
    • P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
    • P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
    • P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
    • P0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
    • P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
    • P0306 - Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected
    • P0307 - Cylinder 7 Misfire Detected
    • P0308 - Cylinder 8 Misfire Detected
    • P1315 - Misfire with the potential for Catalyst Damage
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic system, check the powertrain control module for ignition system related DTC  s and refer to the relevant DTC  index

  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check the powertrain control module for sensor related DTC  s and refer to the relevant DTC  index
  • Inspect the air intake system for blockages, deterioration or damage. Rectify as necessary. For further air intake diagnostics, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
  • Inspect the Catalyst/exhaust system for blockages, deterioration or damage. Rectify as necessary
  • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check the powertrain control module for variable camshaft actuator related DTC  s and refer to the relevant DTC  index
