Exhaust System - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G1509422): Removal
WARNING:
Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
- Remove the engine undershield.
Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD
- Remove the 3 M6 bolts.
- Remove the 8 M10 bolts.
- Remove the screw.
- Remove the transmission undershield.
- Remove the 6 bolts.
- Remove the transmission heatshield.
- Release the rear left Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) connector heatshield.
- Disconnect the rear left HO2S connector.
- Release the rear right HO2S connector heatshield.
- Disconnect the rear right HO2S connector.
- Release the wiring harness clip.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness from the 3 clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Release the left body undershield.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the transmission mounting brace.

CAUTION: Make sure that the exhaust system is supported with suitable retaining straps.
Remove the 4 exhaust mounting rubbers.

NOTE:
- The step must be done on both sides.
- This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right side components are similar.
Remove and discard the 2 exhaust manifold nuts.

NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Remove the 2 exhaust mounting rubbers.
- With assistance, remove the exhaust system.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
- Remove the 2 exhaust damper bolts.
- Remove the 2 exhaust dampers.

NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
Using the special tool, remove the 4 HO2Ss from the 2 catalytic converters.
