Exhaust Front Section - Vehicles Equipped Without Selective Catalyst Reduction System

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

The exhaust front section comprises of a catalytic converter and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The bank 2 inlet exhaust pipe connects to the catalytic converter. On vehicles equipped with secondary turbocharger the bank 1 inlet exhaust pipe connects to a half shell that is located between the catalytic converter and the DPF.

Each inlet exhaust pipe is equipped with a flange that connects to the related turbocharger at each cylinder bank. The bank 2 flange connection uses a 3 bolt fixing and the bank 1 flange connection uses a 2 bolt fixing that are screwed into threaded holes in each of the related turbochargers. Each flange is sealed using a gasket.

Both inlet exhaust pipes are secured to transmission mounted brackets by independent straps.

The DPF has an additional outlet pipe, which connects to the Low Pressure (LP) Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and is secured by a clamp.

The outlet exhaust pipe of the exhaust front section is secured by a clamp to the exhaust rear section.

On all, except EU6d market vehicles the exhaust front section comprises of a catalytic converter and a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).

On EU6d market vehicles the exhaust front section comprises of a Lean NOx Trap (LNT) and a DPF.

The bank 2 inlet exhaust pipe connects to the catalytic converter or LNT. On vehicles equipped with secondary turbocharger the bank 1 inlet exhaust pipe connects to a half shell that is located between the catalytic converter or LNT and the DPF.

Each inlet exhaust pipe is equipped with a flange that connects to the related turbocharger at each cylinder bank. The bank 2 flange connection uses a 3 bolt fixing and the bank 1 flange connection uses a 2 bolt fixing that are screwed into threaded holes in each of the turbochargers.

The outlet exhaust pipe of the exhaust front section comprises an additional Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) catalytic converter and is secured by a clamp to the exhaust rear section.
