Active Engine Mount - Vacuum Check (G2782711): Check

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    • If the engine management lamp ON  , continue to step 1 of the repair article of this procedure.
    • If the engine management lamp is NOT ON  , continue to step 2.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING

  2. Open the hood.

    Remove the vac pipe active engine mount solenoid.

    • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved vacuum testing equipment, connect to the vacuum pipe and check that the active engine mounts hold vacuum. The engine mounts should generate a vacuum of 0.4 bar and then be able to hold the vacuum for 30 seconds.
    • If the active engine mount holds vacuum for 30 seconds, continue to step  1 of the repair article of this procedure.
    • If the active engine mounts does not hold vacuum for 30 seconds, continue to step 6.
  5. Remove the engine undershield. Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD
  6. NOTE: Check the vacuum pipe(s) and connections are tight and there are no signs of leakage.

    Disconnect the vacuum line directly from the right active engine mount.

    • Inspect the right active engine mount switch positions.
    • If the right active engine mount switch clearly is not visible as shown in illustration E222279, continue to step 9.
    • If the right active engine mount switch is clearly visible as shown in illustration E222279, replace the right active engine mount and continue to step  11.

    • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved vacuum testing equipment, connect to the right active engine mount and check that the active engine mount holds vacuum. The engine mount should generate a vacuum of 0.4 bar and then be able to hold the vacuum for 30 seconds.
    • If the right active engine mount holds vacuum for 30 seconds, continue to step 10.
    • If the right active engine mount does not hold vacuum for 30 seconds, replace the right active engine mount and continue to step  11.

      Refer to: RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT 

  9. NOTE: Check the vacuum pipe(s) and connections are tight and there are no signs of leakage.

    Reconnect the vacuum line directly from the right active engine mount.

  10. NOTE: Check the vacuum pipe(s) and connections are tight and there are no signs of leakage.

    • Disconnect the vacuum line.
    • Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved vacuum testing equipment to the left vacuum pipe.
    • Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved vacuum testing equipment, check that the left active engine mount holds vacuum. The engine mount should generate a vacuum of 0.4 bar and then be able to hold the vacuum for 30 seconds.
    • If the left active engine mount holds vacuum for 30 seconds, continue to step 12.
    • If the left active engine mount does not hold vacuum for 30 seconds, replace the left active engine mount and vacuum pipe and continue to step  13.

      Refer to: RIGHT ENGINE MOUNT 

  11. NOTE: Check the vacuum pipe(s) and connections are tight and there are no signs of leakage.

    • Remove the Jaguar Land Rover approved vacuum testing equipment from the left vacuum pipe.
    • Reconnect the vacuum pipe.
    • Install the engine undershield.

      Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD

    • Lower the vehicle
    • The active engine mount vacuum check is complete and the active engine mounts have passed, continue to step  1 of the repair article of this procedure if fault is still persisting.
