Cooling System Draining And Vacuum Filling (G1509365): Draining

WARNING:
Injury such as scalding could be caused by escaping steam or coolant. Make sure the vehicle cooling system is cool prior to carrying out this procedure.
NOTE:

- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Remove the engine undershield. Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD
- Remove the engine cover.

Remove the slam panel trim.

WARNING: When releasing the cooling system pressure, cover the coolant expansion tank cap with a thick cloth.
Remove the cap from the coolant expansion tank.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
Remove the radiator drain plug.
- Remove the front right wheel arch liner.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
Remove the 2 hoses.
- Remove the rear left wheel arch liner.
Refer to: REAR FENDER SPLASH SHIELD
- CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
Remove the 2 hoses.
Install the radiator drain plug.
Torque : 3.5 Nm
Install the 2 hoses.
Install the 2 hoses.
- Complete the fill procedure up to step 10 in the filling article 3 times. Fill the cooling system with clean water at the first 2 drains, At the final refill use a suitable measuring tool to make sure that the cooling system maintains the specified concentration mix.
