PHEV Battery Handling And Storage (G2298787): Inspection

  1. WARNING: Jaguar Land Rover Electric Vehicle Competent Person (EVCP) trained technicians only.

    This procedure involves work on components associated with the High Voltage (HV) system. Only technicians qualified to EVCP level or higher are allowed to perform this procedure.  It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.

  2. NOTE:
    • If the PHEV battery has been removed for access or is being repaired, only perform the actions within this Step.
    • If the PHEV battery is being replaced, first perform the actions within this Step. When the new battery is available, proceed to Step 3.

    • The PHEV battery must  be stored in a secure location where the following conditions are met;
    • A safety barrier must  be placed around the PHEV battery, leaving a 1 meter gap between the PHEV battery and the safety barrier.

      General Equipment: High Voltage (HV) safety barrier 

    • All lock off tools must  be left installed on to the PHEV battery.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-415-013  , JLR-415-017  , JLR-415-023 

      General Equipment: Insulated padlock

      General Equipment: Insulated padlock 

    • Fire suppressant equipment must  be kept within close proximity of the PHEV battery.
  3. WARNING: Jaguar Land Rover Electric Vehicle Authorised Person (EVAP) trained technicians only.

    Steps 4 and 5 involve work on vehicle components containing High Voltage (HV). Only technicians qualified to EVAP level or higher are allowed to perform this procedure.  It is mandated that all technicians involved with the steps in this procedure have read and understood the Electric Vehicle Safety Rules.

    Refer to: ELECTRIC VEHICLE SAFETY RULES 

  4. WARNING:
    • The approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must  be worn throughout this Step and not removed at any time. All items of PPE must  be checked for signs of damage before use, if damaged replacement PPE must  be obtained before performing this Step.
    • The technician must wear cotton based clothing, Class 0 insulated rubber gloves and a safety visor during this Step.

    1. Swap over all lock off tools, including padlocks from the assured PHEV battery, to the new PHEV battery.

      Special Tool(s): JLR-415-013  , JLR-415-017  , JLR-415-023 

      General Equipment: Insulated padlock

      General Equipment: Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 

    2. Swap over all blanking caps from the new PHEV battery, to the assured PHEV battery.
    1. The assured PHEV battery, must  now be placed immediately into the packaging, that was supplied with the new PHEV battery and securely fastened.
    2. The assured PHEV battery must  now be stored in a suitable, secure location until it is collected.
    3. The new PHEV battery must  now be stored exactly as detailed in Step 2, until it is ready to be installed into the vehicle.
