Positive Crankcase Ventilation System - Repair (G2895845): Repair

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Remove the engine cover.
Refer to: ENGINE COVER - INGENIUM I6 3.0L PETROL
Remove the left air filter outlet pipe.
Refer to: LEFT AIR FILTER OUTLET PIPE (G2300697)
CAUTION: Make sure only a suitable plastic tool is used.

Remove and discard the positive crankcase ventilation cap.
CAUTION: Only the diaphragm is to be discarded. The remaining components are to be reused.

NOTE: Note the orientation of the components.

- Remove the diaphragm and spring assembly. Make sure all components of the positive crankcase ventilation cap assembly are removed.
- Discard the diaphragm.

Assemble the diaphragm and spring assembly in the order illustrated.

Install the diaphragm and spring assembly.

Make sure the diaphragm is installed correctly.

Install the positive crankcase ventilation cap. Make sure the 6 clips are fully installed.

Disconnect the 2 connectors and reposition the left breather pipe.

- Use a suitable tool to remove the seal.
- Discard the seal.

Make sure the housing is clean and free from debris and foreign material.
CAUTION: Make sure the seal is installed correctly.

NOTE: The replacement seals should be black in color.

Install the new seal.

Reposition the left breather hose and connect the 2 connectors.

Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the right breather pipe.

- Use a suitable tool to remove the seal.
- Discard the seal.

Install the right breather pipe and connect the 2 connectors.
Install the left air filter outlet pipe.

Install the engine cover.
